Terms & Conditions

Effective date: January 1st, 2026

What these Terms cover. These Terms govern use of the CHIBET website and CHIBET’s pre-booking travel-planning and referral assistance. A confirmed tour is governed by the separate contract issued by the licensed operating partner.

1. About these Terms

These Terms and Conditions (“Terms”) govern your use of chinatibettour.org and the information, trip-planning guidance and enquiry referral provided through the website.

CHIBET Travel (“CHIBET”, “we”, “us” or “our”) is an independently maintained personal travel blog and travel-information website. It is not the licensed operator of the tours described on the website and does not itself confirm bookings, collect tour payments or operate travel services.

If you book a trip after an introduction from CHIBET, your booking contract will be with the licensed operating partner named in its quotation and booking documents. That separate contract will govern the booked tour.

2. CHIBET’s role

CHIBET helps travellers understand routes, timing, altitude, transport, Tibet permit procedures and other practical trip considerations. When you ask us to progress an enquiry, we may pass the relevant details to our licensed Tibet operating partner so that it can contact you, prepare a quotation and discuss a possible booking.

The operating partner is responsible for issuing any booking confirmation and contract, collecting tour payments, arranging required permits and providing or arranging the booked travel services. CHIBET may receive a referral or marketing fee from the partner. Unless clearly stated otherwise, this does not add a separate CHIBET charge to the price quoted to you.

Legal responsibility depends on the actual facts and applicable law, not only on the wording used in these Terms. Nothing here is intended to remove obligations or consumer rights that the law does not allow us or the operating partner to exclude.

3. Using the website

  • You must be at least 18 to submit a booking-related enquiry, or a parent or legal guardian must be involved.
  • If you provide information for another traveller, you must have permission to do so.
  • Information you submit should be accurate, current and complete.
  • You must not submit spam, false enquiries, malicious code or automated bulk requests, or attempt to bypass website security or rate limits.

4. Travel information and availability

We try to keep the website useful and accurate, but travel conditions can change. Routes, schedules, permit rules, prices, accommodation, border arrangements, weather, road access and local requirements may change without notice.

Tour pages, sample itineraries, maps, photographs, group departures and starting prices are planning information. They do not guarantee availability, a particular view or condition, permit approval or the final contents of a booking.

Confirm time-sensitive details with the licensed operating partner before buying flights, trains, visas, insurance or other non-refundable services.

5. Enquiries, bookings and payments

Submitting an enquiry or receiving a draft itinerary from CHIBET is not a booking. A booking is formed only when the licensed operating partner confirms it under its own booking conditions and receives any required payment.

Before paying, check the operator’s legal name, contact details, included services, total price, payment schedule, cancellation rules and refund terms. Tour payments should be made only to the contracting operating partner using the instructions in its booking documents. Do not send card details through a general website form, email or WhatsApp message.

Website prices are indicative unless expressly confirmed in writing by the operating partner. Final prices may vary with dates, group size, room arrangements, availability, exchange rates, government fees and requested services.

6. Permits and traveller responsibilities

Permit, visa and entry requirements can change, and approval is controlled by the relevant authorities. Neither CHIBET nor the operating partner can guarantee that a permit or visa will be issued.

  • Provide accurate passport and traveller information by the deadline given by the operating partner.
  • Check that the itinerary, altitude, walking, climate and facilities are suitable for you and seek medical advice where appropriate.
  • Tell the operating partner about relevant dietary, mobility or medical needs before booking.
  • Obtain suitable travel insurance from the date of booking, including medical treatment, evacuation, cancellation and the planned activities where appropriate.
  • Follow lawful instructions from guides, drivers and authorities and respect local laws, communities and protected environments.

Website content is general travel information, not medical, legal, immigration or insurance advice.

7. Changes, cancellations and refunds

Travel in Tibet and western China can be affected by weather, altitude, road conditions, transport disruption, government restrictions, permit decisions and other events outside reasonable control. The operating partner may need to change a route, schedule, hotel, vehicle or activity for legal, safety or operational reasons.

Any cancellation charge, alternative arrangement, refund or compensation will be determined by the operating partner’s contract and any mandatory law. CHIBET does not set or administer the operator’s cancellation and refund rules.

If you need to cancel, change or complain about a booked tour, notify the operating partner using the method stated in its contract. You may also copy CHIBET. We will make reasonable efforts to pass on a message received by us, but contacting CHIBET does not replace any formal notice required by the operator’s contract.

8. Website content and third-party services

Unless otherwise identified, original website text, design, branding and route presentations belong to or are licensed to CHIBET. You may use reasonable extracts for personal trip planning, but may not republish, sell or commercially exploit substantial website content without permission.

The website may link to operating partners, WhatsApp, maps, transport providers, payment services and other third parties. Their services are governed by their own terms and privacy notices. A link does not guarantee the accuracy, availability, security or quality of a third-party service.

9. Privacy and communications

Our Privacy Policy explains how CHIBET handles information submitted through the website and how relevant enquiry details may be shared with the licensed operating partner. The partner will handle information it receives under its own privacy practices.

Read the CHIBET Privacy Policy

We may reply using the email address, phone number or messaging account you provide. Urgent matters relating to a confirmed or ongoing tour should be sent directly to the operating partner’s service or emergency contact.

10. Responsibility and mandatory rights

CHIBET is responsible for its own acts and omissions to the extent required by law. Where CHIBET only provides general information and an introduction, it is not responsible for the independent operating partner’s performance, supplier failures or events outside CHIBET’s reasonable control.

We do not guarantee uninterrupted access to the website or that every item of general travel information will always be current. To the fullest extent permitted by law, CHIBET is not liable for indirect or consequential loss arising only from reliance on general website content, website unavailability or an independent third party’s actions.

Nothing in these Terms excludes liability for fraud, death or personal injury caused by negligence, or any other liability or consumer right that cannot legally be excluded or limited.

11. Complaints

For website content, privacy or CHIBET’s enquiry and referral assistance, email [email protected] with a clear description of the issue.

For a booked tour, contact the operating partner promptly using the details in its contract so that it has an opportunity to respond. You may copy CHIBET if you would like reasonable help passing information between you and the partner.

12. Changes and contact

We may update these Terms when the website, our enquiry process or legal requirements change. The latest version will be posted on this page with the updated date. A change to these website Terms does not alter a separate booking contract already made with the operating partner.
