Behind CHIBET are Tsering Pema and Gangdrub. We have both worked in Tibet travel for more than ten years, but from different sides of the journey.

Tsering Pema

I am from Nedong, Shannan, in the Yarlung Valley. I studied Tourism Management at Tibet Minzu University and began working in Tibet travel in 2015.

After working as a customized travel consultant in Chengdu, I spent four years in Lhasa as an itinerary planning manager. I learned that a route can look reasonable on paper but feel very different once altitude, long drives and busy days come together.

Sometimes adding a day helps. Sometimes taking one place out makes the whole journey better.

At CHIBET, I focus on pre-trip questions and route planning, including altitude gain, tiring days and whether a journey truly suits the person taking it.

Gangdrub

I am from Tashi Dzom in Tingri County, Shigatse, in the wider Everest region. I studied Tourism Service and Management in Lhasa and began working in Tibet tourism in 2013.

I first worked as a local guide and tour leader on routes to Everest, Mount Kailash, western Tibet and along the Sichuan-Tibet road. Later, I moved into vehicle and route operations in Lhasa.

A short distance on a map can mean most of a day on the road. A guesthouse that looks fine online may be much more basic.

At CHIBET, I make those on-the-ground details clear before you travel.

You can find Lhasa’s altitude anywhere. The useful question is how much to do after you arrive.

We pay attention to permits, route order, driving hours, trains, flights, seasonal conditions and accommodation.

If a day means eight hours on the road, or accommodation is basic, we tell you before you choose.

TRANSPARENT

Clear roles before payment.

We do not make difficult parts sound easier than they are. CHIBET works with one dedicated, fully licensed Tibet operating partner.

The operator handles your contract, payment, permits and on-the-ground operation.

The name CHIBET reflects the connection between the Tibet Autonomous Region and gateway cities elsewhere in China. Tibet is our home and main area of expertise, while many international travelers begin their journey in Beijing, Shanghai, Chengdu, Xi’an or Xining.
